From 25 to 30 May, Dr Monika Bednarczuk, a member of the Department of Comparative Studies and Editing, visited Prague. The purpose of the visit was library and archival research in connection with an National Science Centre project on esotericism in communist Poland.
The Museum of Medicine – a constituent of the National Medical Library – houses fascinating materials on this topic, specifically the archive of Zdenek Rejdak, the most prominent proponent of psychotronics in the Eastern Bloc. Rejdak maintained contact with individuals and groups studying paranormal phenomena from all over the world, including organisations in Poland. In addition, Dr Bednarczuk was granted the opportunity to view a selection of the Museum's noteworthy artefacts, courtesy of Ms Veronika Löblová, an employee of the institution.
