From 7 to 12 June 2026, the Faculty of Philology at the University of Białystok will host Prof. Barbara Törnquist-Plewa from Lund University (Sweden). The highlight of the visit will be an open lecture titled "Auschwitz vs. the Gulag. Competing Memories in Central and Eastern Europe."
The event will take place on 8 June 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Jerzy Giedroyc University Library. The meeting will be moderated by dr hab. Barbara Czarnecka, prof. UwB, with an introductory address by Joanna Hofman, former Polish Ambassador to Sweden and Finland. We cordially invite the entire academic community to attend.
