As part of the XXII Podlasie Festival of Science and Arts, the Faculty of Philology hosted a series of inspiring workshops and meetings led by academic staff and students. These events focused on topics related to English, Russian, and French philology, and their aim was to familiarize students with a variety of linguistic, cultural, and social issues.

One of the events was a workshop led by dr Anna Sańczyk-Cruz entitled "American English: Exploring Linguistic and Cultural Diversity," attended on May 14 by Class 1b from the 6th Secondary School. The meeting was devoted to the linguistic and cultural diversity of American English. Students had the opportunity to examine how regional, ethnic, social, and generational varieties reflect the complexity of United States society.

At the Faculty of Philology, participants could also attend a lecture combined with a tasting session entitled "18th-Century Ravioli – Is It Still Possible to Make It?" The Student Romance Studies Club, operating within the Department of French Linguistics, took participants on a journey through time and introduced them to the history of ravioli around the world and in France. Then, based on a recipe from manuscript Gall. Quart. 146, the club members discussed how ravioli was prepared according to an eighteenth-century recipe. Participants also had the chance to taste a historical version of ravioli prepared with a pumpkin and spinach filling.

The Faculty also hosted a meeting led by mgr Ludmiła Siegień, with the participation of students from the 4th and 11th Secondary Schools in Białystok. As part of the event, participants took part in a festival escape room, during which they unlocked a diplomatic code and "saved civilization," demonstrating knowledge and skills from various fields. An additional attraction was the opportunity to explore spaces connected with important political and social events and to experience the atmosphere of a place significant to the lives of residents of the entire region.

The phonetics workshops organized by mgr Agnieszka Jelska-Cydzik, together with second-year undergraduate students of English Philology, also attracted great interest. The workshops were attended by students from Class VII of Primary School No. 51 in Białystok and Class I of the 6th General Secondary School in Białystok. The sessions provided an opportunity to develop language skills and gain practical insight into issues related to pronunciation.

Another important item on the program was a meeting led by dr Dorota Guzowska entitled "Women in British Culture: Their Voices and Perspectives," prepared with the help of female students. As part of the event, the following presentations were delivered: Sara Ostapczuk – "Women's Voice in the British Book World" Kinga Kulesza – "Not Only Muses: The Power of Female Painters" Weronika Czarniewska – "Center Stage: The Rise of Women in Film and Theatre"

The workshops and meetings organized at the Faculty of Philology were a valuable opportunity to popularize knowledge, develop interest in the humanities, and show that the study of languages and cultures can be a fascinating adventure. Thanks to the commitment of staff and students, participants were able to broaden their knowledge in an engaging and active way and discover the diversity of the world of language and culture.
