The Vienna Edition of the NAWA Project "Zapolska International"

In the second half of May, Vienna became the centre of intensive educational, academic, and popularisation events! All this took place as part of a project financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the Promotion of the Polish Language programme.

Vilnius 2026

Professor Anetta Bogusława Strawińska from the Faculty of Philology at the University of Białystok attended the 13th International Interdisciplinary Academic Conference in Vilnius, organised by the Association of Polish Scholars in Lithuania, from 28 to 30 May 2026. Researchers from various academic centres in Poland and Lithuania debated the current challenges facing the modern world.

Open Lecture by Prof. Barbara Törnquist-Plewa at the Faculty of Philology, UwB

From 7 to 12 June 2026, the Faculty of Philology at the University of Białystok will host Prof. Barbara Törnquist-Plewa from Lund University (Sweden). The highlight of the visit will be an open lecture titled "Auschwitz vs. the Gulag. Competing Memories in Central and Eastern Europe."

The POLKAst Finale

We are approaching the final episode of the series "POLKAst: Conversations on Polish Culture and Language", created by the Faculty of Philology at the University of Białystok. The series was designed to meet the needs of students studying Polish as a foreign language and those involved in teaching the language.

Teaching mobility under the Erasmus+ STA programme

From May 18 to 22, dr Tomasz Sawczuk participated in a mobility visit carried out within the Erasmus+ STA programme framework. The host institution was the University of Lisbon (Portugal). The series of classes conducted by dr Sawczuk focused on the literature of Beat writers as a transnational phenomenon.

XXII Podlasie Festival of Science and Arts, the Faculty of Philology

As part of the XXII Podlasie Festival of Science and Arts, the Faculty of Philology hosted a series of inspiring workshops and meetings led by academic staff and students. These events focused on topics related to English, Russian, and French philology, and their aim was to familiarize students with a variety of linguistic, cultural, and social issues.
